My name is Brooke Lacilla and I am a student at Litchfield High School. I enjoy school, working, and being involved in my community here in Litchfield, CT. I sustain an “A” grade point average while holding down 5 different jobs throughout the entire school year. I have been doing this since I was 15 years old which I will touch upon in greater detail in the “Work” section of my website.

I work at The Corner where I am a fully trained Barista and can put a smile on anyone’s face with my Latte’s. I also work at Rachel’s Consignment Store, Mohawk Ski Mountain as a Ski Instructor, and Jennifer Terzian Art Gallery, and I enjoy babysitting in my spare time for many families around town.

Litchfield is a small town making it very cozy and friendly. I often ride my bike with my friends and sister and walk into town for some lunch. When I am not busy with school or work, you can typically find me helping in my community. I volunteer at the Torrington Soup Kitchen serving meals to the homeless or people in need of a warm and welcoming place. In addition, I also volunteer at the Possum Queen foundation where I am the president of  “The Little Possums” the group I founded where we help raise money for local families with either medical or financial hardships. I also donate some of my time to the Oliver Wolcott Library, an event called “The Festival of Trees” held every November where I will purchase a Christmas Tree, decorate and donate it for auction. I am also a member of “A-ok” which is a fund-raising group standing for Acts of Kindness at Litchfield High School. All of the proceeds will go towards sponsoring a child through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Inspired by Random Acts of Kindness Week in 2009, the club started to help promote good deeds and make Litchfield High school “inspiring”.

On a more personal note, I am an older sister to my younger brother Luke and sister Madison with which we all share a close relationship with one other. My parents have always instilled the importance of family and that no one is going to care about me more than my parents and my siblings so we always have that special bond and friendship that will never be broken or replaced.

Being close to my family has always given me a safe space of strength, someplace where I feel comfortable talking freely and openly with them about anything and everything on my mind.

Any Person Can Describe Who They Claim To Be But Evidence of Actions Provides The Truth Of Who We Really Are.”

author – My Dad

I began my education at St. John’s, a private Catholic School, and was involved actively in school activities such as basketball and cross country for several years then started guitar in 6th grade. Although basketball did not end up being something I particularly enjoyed, I did love to run and compete for the medals. It took me a while to finally earn my goal of getting to the point where I would be like my brother who could run forever and not stop for miles on end. I wanted to be like him and do what he would do. In one race I accomplished that goal and won 3rd place in a competitive race against Memorial!

Making things very simple, I am a 17-year-old girl who loves living in the small town of Litchfield, CT. I love my school, my friends, my work, and most of all my family. My personality is one where I tend to listen much more than I speak. I love to be a friend to those who just need someone they can share their joys, concerns, frustrations, or things that need expression like the expression of a simple smile?
