Skiing
This winter, I decided I would take my love for skiing to a new level, bringing myself beyond my comfort zone, I decided to teach and give lessons at Mohawk Mountain Resort. Once a week, I work at Mohawk Mountain as a ski instructor giving lessons to kids and adults! I absolutely love doing it! My time helping teach ski lessons is very filling to me. I love helping teach and watching the students learn and progressively get better.
Track & Field
Track and field are a sport that allowed me to try something new and discover my potential. Over the course of my junior year, my friend had always pushed me to run with her. But I was always a little discouraged since I knew that she was an advanced runner. I knew going into it this sport I had to push myself to do something that was uncomfortable and do the things I don’t always want to do (as my dad always tells me). I soon joined track and found that it was harder than I thought it was going to be, but I knew that it was never going to be easy for me since the last time I ran was in middle school. I worked hard in my practices and tried different events. I worked diligently in getting better at these events because I knew I had a lot of potential. I participated in relay events, 400 meters, 200 meters, 800 and 1600. I did well in my first race in the 400 and 200. I did one, two, and three races in the same division and got the top 2 spot. I then qualified for the Berkshire league finals in my 400 and a relay that I competed with my team. I felt a sense of accomplishment as the season ended.
Golf
I have been learning the game of golf over the past couple of years. First at the local country club I belong to and second on my school’s Varsity Golf Team. I am not good enough yet to be on the starting team but I love being a part of the team. At practice, I’ve learned how to improve my swing, accuracy, and strategy. I practiced different types of shots, such as drives, chips, and putts. I also played a few holes with my coach and teammates and received feedback on my performance. Practicing golf has impacted me in many ways. It has helped me to develop my skills and confidence not only in the game of golf but other areas of my life. It has also taught me valuable lessons about patience, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Golf has also given me a chance to enjoy nature, relax, and have a little fun outdoors. It is a sport that I know I will be able to play at almost any age so its important to try and develop an understanding of the game now even though I do not start for our High School team. I also enjoy the social aspect of golf, which allows me to play with my friends and family, and make new connections.
